Overwhelming but not in the drowning sense more so mental spinning sense. On facebook I shared this along with saying: "What a jam packed year, overwhelming when you sit back and reflect upon it. So much to unite us, so much to remind us.... We are human we must cry, laugh, smile, hug one another, love and push forward." I found myself through out the video thinking to my self, "Holy Moly that was this year wasn't it?!?"
This video, or it's sharing, has remained with me all day. Maybe it is just me but this past year has been so jammed pack and full of "happenings". Has it really been more so than any other year? Or are we merely sharing more and more worldwide with technology that is available. Sometimes too much is just that, too much information overload. We get a tidbit and quickly another comes along brushing the other under the rug. Truly we don't have a enough time to process it all fully or rightly. Granted that is just my opinion. I have found myself having to take absences from social media and media in general this year. Then finding myself playing catch up.
My mind wanders back to the early days of television and before. How communities were just that communities, pulling together spreading the good and bad working together. Now that things are on a larger scale there is pros and cons. Small communities suffer unless unleashed into the mainstream media.
But I ramble on the point of this post was to reflect on my own year as result of this video. If for no other reason than this I am thankful for Facebook and being able to look back at all that has happened in the year past. My memory would have lapsed so many things. So reflecting by months and as cliff notey as possible:
January- We had a house full with my sister, two of her friends, and my niece living with us. I was in the middle of homeschooling my niece preparing her for Kindergarten. What a rewarding journey that was. Preparing her for school, learning and so much. Just having the house filled and centered around a child was amazing. It takes a village to raise a child. There is no true statement representing what our house was at this time. From coloring nights, playing dress up, to quizzing and teaching one child as much as possible.
February- Centered again around my niece and learning. We started watching eagles via webcam on line and she made a book adding to it as we learned about eagles. By this point my niece knew all her ABC's as well as how to write them upper case and lower case, and we were beginning on reading words. We had snow and the house was a buzz. I went through a blue period missing my sister whom had passed seeing as February was the last time we saw one another face to face and our last hugg here at my home. Having my niece here warmed my spirits. She is a sponge for learning and I love it!
March- Crazy weather, one day windows open the next there is snow. Purple Hair! Allergies. Grilling out. Snuggle wuggles with niece. Aftershocks felt. More learning and exploring.. mud pies and outdoor fun. Eaglets hatched. Surprise company drops in. Why? How? what's that? Thousands of questions asked for an eager learner, niece. Refusing to say I don't know and teaching how to look for answers. Ah yes spring was definitely in the air.
April- Jet crashes into apartments in Va Beach! No fatalities! Sister and niece start moving out. Niece officially enrolled for kindergarten. Empty house. Quiet, still have niece some times. Celebrate another birthday of Sissy's Birthday with out her. In game mode with hubby kicking his butt at cards. Roommate suppose to move out, but still waiting on work to new place to be finished.
May- Sister disconnects. Strawberry festival first without niece there. Depressed. Bummed. Niece turns Five. First year I didn't make her a cake. Dive into getting house projects back on track. Was in pretty foul mood this month.
June- New counters installed. More housework on projects. My birthday, quiet and uneventful for a change. One year without a car. Word comes of possible changes with hubby and work. Storms and power outages. Hair color change again with the seasons. Mourning the fourth anniversary of Sissy passing. 28th. Staying busy and distracted with house.
July- Great news arrives. Hubby will be doing an apprenticeship. Paving the way to new doors in the future. Olympics plays non stop in the house! Heat wave makes for simple dinners. More and more house projects. Still awaiting last room mate to move out.
August- Creativity going strong. Scribble sketches filling sketch book. Wishing for fall. Quiet phase. Nostalgic mode kicks in. Stay lost in books. Hubby starts Apprenticeship. Scrabble to find vehicle.
September- Celebrate 14 years with hubby. Start blogging again. Sister comes back around. Niece and her hang out a lot at our house. Cyst ordeal. Hubby teaches niece checkers and they make a board together. Niece starts kindergarten.
October- Roommate rarely around and finally preparing to move out. In book mode, house mode, creative mode. Storm comes. Baking. Missing having a camera. dreading holidays. Niece starts basket ball. Hubby put on salary.
November- Feeling very thankful. New Camera! Family time! Election. Lots of travel. Props. In the car a bunch! Gift planning.
December- Hubby learns he will get insurance at first of year. VV Christmas shows. Gift making galore. Ready for the holidays. Family.
Ha and that's just what was shared via facebook and blog. I know there was a lot more going on.
